Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 Result, Arvind Kejriwal Latest News Today: In a major political shift in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has conceded defeat in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, congratulating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their victory.
Kejriwal, who lost the New Delhi constituency seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma, addressed the public, saying, "I humbly accept the people's mandate and congratulate BJP for their victory. I hope the BJP stands up to the expectations of the people. We did a lot of work in education, health, and infrastructure over the past tenures. Now, we will not only play the role of the opposition but also stand by the people and help them socially. I want to congratulate all AAP workers for their commitment and hard work."
According to Election Commission data, after 14 rounds of counting, Verma defeated Kejriwal by a margin of 4,089 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit managed to secure 4,568 votes but failed to make a significant impact.
Meanwhile, Congress continues to struggle, failing to secure a lead in any seat. The majority mark needed to form a government in Delhi stands at 36 seats while BJP reached near 50.
The New Delhi constituency was one of the most closely watched battles, with Kejriwal facing a tough contest against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit. The seat recorded a voter turnout of 56.41 percent.
With vote counting underway, the final results will determine whether the AAP can hold onto its political relevance in Delhi or if the BJP successfully stages a comeback in the national capital after more than 26 years.
