Haryana Government Internet Services in Ambala Farmers Protest March Latest News Today: The Haryana Government has issued an order for the temporary suspension of mobile internet, SMS, and dongle services in Ambala, citing public safety concerns amid the ongoing farmers' march toward Delhi. The decision, outlined in a notification from the Department of Home Affairs, comes as authorities anticipate potential disruptions to public order due to inflammatory content and rumors being circulated on social media platforms.

The suspension of services is being implemented under Section 20 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, and Rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017. The move follows requests from the Additional Director General of Police (CID) and the Deputy Commissioner of Ambala, who raised concerns about the possible escalation of tensions in the region.

The affected areas include Ambala district and parts of Jind, Panipat, Kaithal, and Kurukshetra. The suspension, which began at 12 PM on December 6, will remain in effect until 11:59 PM on December 9, 2024. Only voice call services will remain operational, while internet-based services such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter have been temporarily halted.

The Home Department justified the measure as necessary to prevent the spread of misinformation and potential acts of vandalism or arson. The directive specifies that the action aims to "stop the spread of inflammatory material and rumors" that could disrupt public peace and safety.

This precautionary step aligns with efforts to manage the anticipated impact of the farmers' agitation on law and order. Farmers' organizations have been actively mobilizing to demand their rights, and authorities are keen to avoid any incidents that might escalate the situation.
