British Engineering Team Arrives in Kerala to Repair Stranded F-35B Fighter Jet
British F-35B Stranded Fighter Jet Latest News: A team of technical experts aboard the British Royal Air Force's Airbus A400M Atlas arrived at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Sunday, July 6, to assess the stranded F-35B fighter jet.
The F-35B, a British stealth fighter aircraft, had made an emergency landing at the airport on June 14 and has remained grounded since. In a video shared by ANI, the aircraft was seen being moved to a hangar from its stationary position on the tarmac.
A spokesperson for the British High Commission stated, “A UK engineering team has deployed to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to assess and repair the UK F-35B aircraft, which landed following an emergency diversion. The UK has accepted the offer of a space in the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility and is in discussions to finalise arrangements with relevant authorities. In line with standard procedure, the aircraft will be moved following the arrival of UK engineers, who are carrying specialist equipment necessary for the movement and repair process. The UK remains very grateful for the continued support and collaboration of the Indian authorities and airport teams.”
Around 4:30 PM today, British Royal Air Force Airbus A400M Atlas took off from Thiruvananthapuram, leaving behind a team of technical experts at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to assess the F-35 fighter jet.
