A special court here has sentenced a former village head's son to seven years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 on him in connection with the rape and subsequent forced abortion of a 17-year-old Dalit girl in 2007.
Special Judge of Additional District and Sessions Court (SC-ST) Anil Kumar Shukla on Thursday also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the former village head, Vasudev, special prosecution officer Chandrika Prasad said on Friday.
Rape
On June 30, 2007, the victim's father lodged a complaint at the Sumerpur police station, stating that his daughter was raped by Vasudev's son, Ramsharan Nishad, at gunpoint on February 10 the same year while she was alone at home, Prasad said.
The complainant had alleged that his daughter never mentioned the incident out of fear and subsequently, when he found out about her pregnancy, he went to inform the pradhan on June 19, 2007, who forcibly took the girl to Banda and got an abortion done.
