He reached California in 2023 after a month-long journey and initially obtained a temporary visa.

Kaithal News: A young man from Kaithal, Sandeep, who was recently deported from the United States, has accused a travel agent of fraud after losing Rs 42 lakh in an attempt to migrate illegally.

Sandeep revealed that he sold two acres of land to pay the hefty sum to an agent who promised to facilitate his journey to the US through the Donkey Route—a dangerous and illegal immigration pathway. He reached California in 2023 after a month-long journey and initially obtained a temporary visa. However, when he attended his immigration hearing, he was arrested, detained for nearly a year, and ultimately deported on February 1, 2025.

Feeling deceived, Sandeep has urged authorities to take strict action against fraudulent agents to prevent others from falling into similar traps.

Authorities to Investigate

The local administration has acknowledged Sandeep’s complaint and assured a thorough investigation. Law enforcement officials have stated that if a formal fraud complaint is lodged against the agent, appropriate legal action will follow.
