Army chief General Bipin Rawat met his Bangladeshi counterpart General Aziz Ahmed, a statement said. The Army chiefs also exchanged mementos, it added. Army personnel of India and Bangladesh took part in a joint training exercise 'Sampriti-7' in Meghalaya and Mizoram in November last year, which was the seventh edition of such drill between the two sides.

In a bilateral exercise that concluded last month, the navies of India and Bangladesh launched the first joint coordinated patrol (CORPAT) along their maritime boundaries against terrorism, piracy, human trafficking, smuggling and illegal fishing. The two sides also stepped their defence cooperation.
