The demand by India, as explained by a Defence Analyst was in accordance with laws

Chandigarh, 1st March: There have been reports in the media that India demanded the return of IAF Pilot captured by Pakistan, via a special flight. India had offered to arrange a flight to bring back the pilot, but was denied by Pakistan. While everyone was wondering the reason for such a demand, a defence analyst, who is also a former Armed Force personnel, explained the need of it, in an interview with a news channel.

Commodore GG Singh (Retd.) Defence Analyst said that Indian Air Force Act prohibits any serving personnel to interact with the media. Also, the Geneva Convention states that any serving officer who is serving, is not to be paraded in front of media. This is reportedly, to ensure that his mental state and physical wellbeing is intact. Once such personnel who has been a PoW, is exposed, it becomes tough for him to focus on his life and work, as it causes a lot of problem.
