Dehradun family suicide latest news: In a shocking case of suspected mass suicide, seven members of a family from Dehradun were found dead inside a locked car in Sector 27 of Haryana’s Panchkula district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Praveen Mittal (42), his parents, wife, two daughters, and a son.
According to reports, all seven bodies were found inside a car parked on the roadside outside a house in a residential area. Upon receiving information about the incident, Panchkula DCP Himadri Kaushik and DCP (Law and Order) Amit Dahiya immediately reached the spot and confirmed that all the deceased were members of the same family.
DCP Himadri Kaushik said, "We received information that six people were brought to Ojas Hospital. When we reached here, we found out that they were all dead. Another person was taken to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, and was also declared dead. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. All investigating officers are present at the spot. All of the deceased are from the same family."
Police have recovered a suicide note from the vehicle, but the contents have not been fully disclosed.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the family may have consumed poison. Financial distress and heavy debt are suspected to have driven them to take this extreme step.
Reports indicate that the family had travelled to attend a Hanuman Katha program organized by Bageshwar Dham. The tragedy reportedly occurred while they were returning from the event.
A forensic team has reached the scene, and all seven bodies have been sent to the mortuary of private hospitals in Panchkula.
Further investigations are underway.
