BJP's Harpreet Kaur Babla Becomes Chandigarh's New Mayor!

BJP bagged 19 votes while AAP and Congress, in alliance, secured only 17 votes.

BJP's Harpreet Kaur Babla Becomes Chandigarh's New Mayor Latest News Today: In a major turn of events, the Bharatiya Janta Party surprised everyone as its candidate Harpreet Kaur Babla became the Chandigarh mayor on Thursday.

Earlier, it was assumed that AAP's Prem Lata would secure victory as the number tally were in favour but the table turned as a result showed that it was the BJP who won.

Likewise, Congress' Jasveer Singh Bunty became Senior Deputy Mayor.

Initially, the AAP and Congress Alliance had 20 votes, including one of MP Manish Tewari and BJP had only 13 votes.

However, the results shocked everyone as BJP's Harpreet Kaur Babla bagged 19 votes while Congress and AAP alliance won only 17 votes. Prima facie it has been reported that cross-voting was held in Chandigarh Mayoral Elections 2025.
