Punjab Government also declared summer vacation in the whole of Punjab from May 21, 2024. 

Chandigarh Declares School Summer Vacation Holidays News: In a major development, the Chandigarh Administration joined Punjab in declaring early summer vacation holidays in the schools of the city. The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions. 

According to information, the Department of School Education, Chandigarh, stated that "In view of the prevailing intense heat wave in the region that may pose a risk at times to the health of school going students, therefore from 22.5.2024 (Wednesday) to 30.6.2024 (Sunday) all schools of UT Chandigarh (Government, Govt Aided and Unaided Recognized Private Schools) will remain closed for Summer Break i.e. today 21st May 2024 will be the last working day before the Summer Break."

Earlier, the Punjab Government had announced a revision in the timings of schools due to the scorching heatwave as a proactive measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students. As per the order, the schools for students in Punjab were to be opened from 7 am to 12 noon from May 20th to 31st. 

The heatwave turned out to be severe, and hence, the Punjab Government also declared summer vacation in the whole of Punjab from May 21, 2024. Likewise, the students of Chandigarh schools were wondering if the administration would declare holidays in the city as well or not. 

In a respite to Chandigarh students, the administration also declared early summer vacation holidays.
