Chandigarh Administration Constitutes Nine Special Committees to Rationalize City Systems latest news: To rationalize city systems and solve the problems of citizens, the Chandigarh Administration has constituted nine special committees. The committees will deal with issues concerning sanitation, law and order, fire services, environmental upgradation, women empowerment, electricity, slum and colony development, market systems, and arts and culture.
Under the guidelines issued by Mandeep Singh Brar, Secretary Municipal Corporation and Urban Development, these committees will hold office for as long as the term of the Mayor. The objective of these committees is to ensure smooth administration in the city and speed up developmental works.
Each committee is formed with members elected from the city. Following are the assigned duties of the elected representatives to be managed:
Sanitation Committee - This committee is in charge of maintaining the city's cleanliness and upkeep.
Members: Manoj Sonkar, Harjit Singh, Lakhbir Singh, Dalip Sharma, Bimla Dubey, Yogesh Dhingra, Poonam, Nirmala Devi, Geeta Chauhan.
Enforcement Committee- Monitors illegal constructions, encroachments, and adherence to rules.
Members: Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Kanwarjit Singh, Bimla Dubey, Gurcharanjit Singh, Gurbaksh Rawat, Neha, Yogesh Dhingra, Jasbir Singh, Dharminder Saini.
Fire and Emergency Services Committee- Deals with fire and emergency management measures.
Members: Maheshinder Singh, Gurbaksh Rawat, Jasmanpreet Singh, Anup Gupta, Kuljit Singh Sandhu, Ramchander Yadav, Kuldeep Kumar, Sachin Galav, Mahinder Kaur.
Environment and Beautification Committee - Emphasizes adding more greenery and upkeeping the look of the city.
Members: Gurpreet Singh, Maheshinder Singh, Jasmanpreet Singh, Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Hardeep Singh, Premlata, Jasbir Singh, Umesh Singh, Jasbir Ghai.
Women's Empowerment Committee - Gives special stress on women's rights and safety.
Members: Premlata, Geeta Chauhan, Sarabjit Kaur, Bimla Dubey, Suman Devi, Poonam, Jaswinder Kaur, Anju Katyal, Taruna Mehta.
Electricity Committee - Is responsible for maintaining an uninterrupted supply of power in the city.
Members: Kanwarjit Singh, Anup Gupta, Kuljit Singh Sandhu, Maheshinder Singh, Saurabh Joshi, Neha, Damanpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Anil Masih.
Village, Colony, and Slum Development Committee - Is responsible for the development of slums and rural areas.
Members: Kuljit Singh Sandhu, Bimla Dubey, Harjit Singh, Manoj Sonkar, Lakhbir Singh, Manor, Jaswinder Kaur, Nirmala Devi, Satinder Singh Sidhu.
Day Market and Apni Mandi Committee - Oversees market organization and encourages local trade.
Members: Lakhbir Singh, Harjit Singh, Manoj Sonkar, Kanwarjit Singh, Bimla Dubey, Manor, Yogesh Dhingra, Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Naresh Panchal.
Art, Culture, and Sports Committee - Encourages sports and cultural activities.
Members: Anju Katyal, Saurabh Joshi, Sarabjit Kaur, Hardeep Singh, Ramchander Yadav, Kuldeep Kumar, Sachin Galav, Darshna, Mahinder Kaur.
All these committees are supposed to help in smooth city administration and speed up developmental works, which ultimately benefit the people of Chandigarh.
