New Delhi: Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken expressed disappointment over the proposals in the General Budget, saying the national capital's traders, who were already facing problems in the wake of GST and other issues, have not got any relief.

He said the budget was particularly disappointing for the people of Delhi since there was nothing in it to fulfill the promises made to them by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said there was neither a special package for Delhi in the Union Budget nor any allocation for infrastructure development.

"Public transport is in a mess in Delhi as it has failed to cope up with the rising population and it was very unfortunate that there is nothing in the budget for the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro, not even a mention," Maken said.

He said the traders of Delhi, jolted by demonetisation, GST and the sealing drive, have not got any relief from the Union Budget. The Centre has allocated Rs 790 crore to Delhi for the 2018-19 fiscal in a marginal increase from the last budget. This also evoked a sharp reaction from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who accused the Centre of "continuing" with its "step-motherly" treatment to the city.
