He shared that the bond between them was more like that of a Guru-Shishya from his end; however, Piyush Pandey affectionately called him “Partner.”

“Over multiple cups of chai at his house,” Maloo said, “discussing everything under the sun, we forged a relationship that would be more Guru-Shishya like from my end, but the humble generous giant that he was — he called me ‘Partner.’”
Maloo recalled that this Janmashtami, Piyush Pandey had visited his home and blessed his daughter.

“Just like his iconic ads, he saved his best for the last, where this Janmashtami, he visited our house and blessed our daughter. I’m thankful for all the love he’s bestowed upon me but extremely angry at him for leaving so abruptly,” he said.

“Partner, your promise of Kachoris in Jaipur and some more visits over unending cups of Chai — remains unfulfilled,” Maloo wrote in the heartfelt post.

“I know you will not rest, even up there in the heavens; instead, you will play cricket, music and create better advertising for the Gods who decided to just pull you out without warning. Will miss you, sir. A lot,” he added lovingly.

Advertising legend Piyush Pandey passed away at the age of 70 this morning. Prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and industrialist Gautam Adani, shared their condolences and paid tribute to the creative icon.

According to news agency ANI, Pandey began his advertising career in 1982 with Ogilvy & Mather India (now Ogilvy India) as a trainee account executive before moving to the creative department.

He was the creative mind behind some of India’s most iconic ad campaigns, including Asian Paints’ “Har Khushi Mein Rang Laaye,” Cadbury’s “Kuch Khaas Hai,” and Fevicol’s legendary “Egg” film.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur also paid tribute to the legend, calling the departed soul "the architect of Indian advertising".

"An era of creativity and brilliance has come to a quiet end, leaving behind a huge void. Yet, his legacy and experiments will continue to tell his stories. My heartfelt tribute to Shri Piyush Pandey, Padma Shri awardee and the architect of Indian advertising, who left for his heavenly abode today," Anurag Thakur wrote in a post on his X.
