Mumbai: Commercial flights have been suspended until May 31 due to a nationwide lockdown. Meanwhile, some airlines have started booking flights for the month of June, sources said.
Flight operationsImportantly, all domestic and international flights suspended from March 25 during the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 are currently closed till at least May 31 and no guidelines have been issued by the government to resume their operations.
"Domestic airlines have started booking their flights from June," a source said. When contacted, a SpiceJet source said the company has started booking international flights from June 15.
Sources at Indigo and Vistara said both the companies were booking domestic flights. However, no official statement has been made by SpiceJet, Indigo, Vistara and GoAir to start booking.
AirlinesOn Monday, Sudhakar Reddy, national president of the Indian Air Passengers Association (APAI), criticized some airlines for starting bookings.
He claimed in a tweet, "We understand that 6E (Indigo), SpiceJet, GoAir has started booking international flights, assuming that it will be operational from June 1. Please don't fall for it. Your money will become a credit shell, instead keep it safe at home.
