New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices hiked for the ninth consecutive day. Oil companies on Monday hiked petrol prices by 48 paise and diesel by 59 paise.
With the hike, people in Delhi will now have to pay Rs 76.26 a litre for petrol and Rs 74.62 for diesel. Oil companies have started raising petrol and diesel prices as centre had eased lockdown in the wake of the Corona crisis.
Petrol and diesel price hikedFor the past nine days, prices have been rising steadily. On Sunday, petrol was hiked by 62 paise and diesel by 64 paise. Similarly, on Saturday it was increased by 59 paise and 58 paise respectively.
In Chennai, people will have to pay Rs 79.96 a litre for petrol and Rs 72.69 for diesel.
Petrol and diesel price hikedSimilarly, in Kolkata, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs 78.10 and diesel to Rs 70.33. Oil prices have been rising steadily since June 7.
It may be noted that during the Corona Crisis, oil prices fell sharply. However, the government had increased excise duty on petrol and diesel and some states had also increased local taxes.
