Bihar Police Seize Horse Used for Liquor Smuggling; 50 Litres of Alcohol Recovered, latest news
In a dramatic turn of events, Bihar Police have seized a horse that was being used to smuggle liquor in West Champaran district and recovered nearly 50 litres of alcohol loaded on the animal, ANI reported. The smuggler managed to flee the scene.
Acting on secret information provided by the Superintendent of Police and his team, the police conducted a raid targeting liquor smugglers. During the operation, officers recovered 49.95 litres of foreign liquor being transported on a horse.
Rajesh Kumar, Station House Officer of Nautan Police Station, as quoted in the ANI report, said, “During a raid yesterday, we recovered 49.95 litres of alcohol from a horse. The liquor smuggler fled the spot, but we have identified him and will arrest him soon. The horse will be handed over to a responsible person who can take care of it. We will also inform the court accordingly.”
The raid was conducted in the Gandak Diyara area, where liquor smugglers were reportedly using horses for transportation.
According to the report, the police will submit the name of the caretaker to the court in writing so that the horse can be produced as required during the investigation.
Officials noted a recent surge in the use of horses for transporting liquor in the Diyara region, replacing motorcycles, which were commonly used earlier.
Earlier in May, a biker was caught smuggling liquor bottles concealed inside the motorcycle’s main fuel tank, while a separate, makeshift fuel tank had been cleverly installed under the seat to keep the vehicle running without raising suspicion.
