Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana: First Installment Distribution Ceremony
Patna, The Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana launched by the Government of Bihar to promote self-reliance and self-employment, the first installment distribution ceremony was organized today at the Convention Hall, Patna.
The ceremony is dedicated to those innovators, women and youth who have taken the first step towards self-reliance. Now their dreams will get the support of the Bihar Government and strong support of schemes. Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana was launched by the Government of Bihar in the year 2024, with the aim of providing financial assistance for self-employment to economically weaker families identified in the caste-based census. Under this scheme, a grant amount of Rs 2 lakh is provided in three installments to the selected beneficiaries to set up their business. This scheme is for those permanent residents of Bihar, whose age is between 18 to 50 years and whose monthly family income is less than Rs 6,000 or annual income is less than Rs 72,000. Applicants have to choose one of the 61 projects identified under the scheme.
In the financial year 2023-24, an amount of Rs 411.58 crore has been distributed as first and second installments to 40,099 beneficiaries finally selected under this scheme. In the financial year 2024-25, out of 2,32,900 applications received through Udyam Portal, 59,901 applicants (SC-14,838, ST-1,342, BC-15,755, EBC-20,761, General-7,205) were provisionally selected through computerized randomization system, which also includes last year's vacancies (9,901).
In addition, 11,980 applicants have been kept on the waiting list. After scrutiny of provisionally selected applications, 56,248 applicants (SC-13,890, ST-1,072, BC-15,177, EBC-19,775, General-6,334) have been finally selected. All these beneficiaries are being provided 3-day training through Upendra Maharathi Craft Research Institute in the respective District Industry Centers.
In today's ceremony, a total amount of Rs 100.53 crore was distributed as the first installment to 20,106 beneficiaries (SC-4,314, ST-428, BC-6,736, EBC-6,731, General-1,897) who have completed the training, at the rate of Rs 50,000 per beneficiary. These include 7,039 women beneficiaries, who are taking a strong step towards self-reliance under this scheme.
Chief Guest Industry Minister Shri Nitish Mishra said, “Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana is a powerful medium to make the youth and women of Bihar self-reliant. Our goal is that every eligible person should take advantage of this scheme and join the mainstream of society through their business. This scheme will not only create employment, but will also contribute significantly in making Bihar economically strong and prosperous.”
This scheme is playing an important role in bringing awareness about employment among the youth of Bihar and making them self-reliant. Through this scheme, the Bihar government is not only providing financial assistance, but is also creating a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem through training and resources.
