Patna, Addressing the press today, Industry Minister Nitish Mishra officially inaugurated the Bihar Idea Festival Portal, saying it is a significant step towards igniting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship across the state.
The portal serves as a dedicated digital platform for budding innovators, entrepreneurs, students and startups where they can present their imaginative ideas and business concepts under the Bihar Idea Festival 2025. It is a state-wide initiative aimed at promoting inclusive growth, employment generation and startup-led economic development.
Bihar Idea Festival is a unique initiative launched in collaboration with the Department of Industries and YourStory Media Pvt Ltd along with Jeevika. The main objective of the event is to discover 10,000+ entrepreneurial ideas from the youth, students, Self Help Groups (SHGs), artisans, farmers, etc. at the grassroots level. Through this event, the department aims to identify emerging entrepreneurs of the state, establish market linkages and create funding opportunities for them.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitish Mishra said “Bihar Idea Festival is not just an event but a revolution towards creating ‘Samriddh Bihar’. It will encourage youth to take up entrepreneurship to solve the grassroots challenges of Bihar. We will start this event at the district level from July 24, where sensitization will be done and ideas will be collected through Idea Hackathon. We will also organize awareness campaigns at the divisional level, leading to a two-day mega event in Patna in the last week of August.”

Shri Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department said that Startup Bihar is focused on making the entrepreneurial ecosystem more inclusive and accessible by promoting innovation at the grassroots level. This approach ensures that innovation is not limited to only urban, tech-savvy entrepreneurs but also extends to rural communities, traditional areas and underprivileged groups.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Shradha Sharma, CEO, YourStory Media said that YourStory will play a vital role in discovering, documenting and promoting revolutionary ideas and entrepreneurial talent from across the state. Through in-depth coverage, curated content and digital storytelling, YourStory will ensure that the voices of young innovators and change makers from Bihar reach a national audience. This collaboration will not only enhance the visibility of Bihar’s startup ecosystem but also inspire aspiring entrepreneurs to move forward.
The event was also attended by Mr. Mukul Gupta, Director (Industries), Mr. Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, Director (Handloom & Silk), faculty in charge of Startup Cells and Incubation Centres, coordinators and startup founders from across the state.
