Bihar Congress Chief Slams Burning of Dalits in Purnia, Says 'Goons Rule the State'​: 

Bihar state Congress President Rajesh Ram, who was enraged by the incident of burning alive five people of the same tribal family by 250 people on suspicion of being witches in Purnia, Bihar, has strongly condemned the incident and called the Nitish BJP government of Bihar a rule of goons and demanded strict action against the culprits immediately. 

State Congress President Rajesh Ram expressed grief to the family members of the Dalit tribal victim family and said that in Tetgama village of Purnia, five tribal people of the same family were beaten and burnt alive on suspicion of being witches. The dead include two women and three men. There is an atmosphere of terror in the entire village and the police has not been able to take appropriate action till now.

He said that information is being received that the son of Ramdev Oraon of the same village had died during exorcism and the health of the other son was deteriorating.  After this, the villagers targeted a family, considering the cause of death to be a witch. The villagers first beat them badly and then burnt them alive. All the deceased are from the same family. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of fear in the village and many people have left their homes. The area where this incident took place is completely tribal area. Four bodies have been taken out from the nearby pond, all are in a burnt state. At present no FIR has been registered because the child is very scared and is not able to give much information.

In this case, Nitish called the BJP government a hooliganism and said that the criminals have no fear of the law and the credibility of this government has ended. That is why murders and massacres are happening daily in all the areas of the state. On this matter, he demanded immediate action against the culprits from the government.
