Battlegrounds Mobile India ban is under discussion again

BGMI ban news in India: Battlegrounds Mobile India ban is under discussion again as the Indian government’s cybersecurity division has some concerns towards it. BGMI or PUBG catapulted the Indian gaming and esports industry. So, its ban could be disheartening for many stakeholders.

According to a media report, "Cyber Security Division of the Indian Government has recommended discontinuing BGMI in India". The report also claimed that crimes related to BGMI alerted authorities.

A meeting is scheduled for next week where Krafton, along with government agencies, will discuss whether the game can keep running in India. Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) came back to India in May 2023 after being banned for a while.

The Union Minister of State for Electronics & Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said on the X platform that the game got a temporary approval for three months to try it out again. This approval was extended because Krafton worked on fixing issues raised by Indian authorities. It's important to mention that in June 2021, In game name India found out that BGMI was sending data to servers in China.

The fate of BGMI in India hangs in the balance as authorities weigh concerns about crime, data security and the game impact on national security. The upcoming meeting will play a cruicial role in  determining whether BGMI will continue to be available to Indian gamers or face discontinuation.
