Jammu: To reach out to people of Jammu, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is visiting the historic Shri Raghunath temple on Raksha Bandhan. After offering prayers at the temple, the CMwill visit the Raghunath Bazaar in the heart of the walled city.

This will be her first visit to the temple after becoming the CM. Her visit to the temple is significant as her statement on Article 35-A vis-à-vis the national flag has already stirred a controversy and the BJP — which runs a coalition with the PDP, is facing the wrath of Jammu residents.

Furthermore, the decision of the government to convert 49 posts of Assistant Professors in the Kashmiri language for degree colleges of Jammu has already created apprehension of “cultural aggression” among residents of the region. Her visit would be considered as a relief for the BJP in the Jammu region.

Highly placed sources said the CM would arrive in Jammu on Sunday to chair a meeting of the Advisory Board for the Development of the Scheduled Castes on the same day.
