Jhajjar: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ashok Tanwar has asked the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state to issue separate white papers on various farmer-related schemes to apprise the people of benefit extended to them through these during the past three years.
He was addressing a public meeting after leading a protest march organised by local Congress leaders against the BJP government on farmers’ issues in Beri today. The protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister through the Tehsildar. They accused the BJP government of implementing anti-farmer policies. “The BJP governments have cheated farmers in the name of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and other schemes, which have nothing to do with farmers’ interests.
The scheme is benefiting private insurance companies while farmers, unable to recover cost of crops, are ending their lives,” said Tanwar. He accused the BJP government of ignoring the plight of farmers. He said debt-ridden farmers were taking to the roads to demand justice while the government was not making any effort to bail them out of the crisis. Later, talking to mediapersons, he said GST would prove fatal for the economy of the nation as it had been implemented without proper homework.
