Faridabad: Jallaluddin Mohammad, father of Junaid Khan, has sought police safety for his family. Junaid (16) was stabbed to death during a brawl aboard an EMU train near Ballabgarh on June 22.
Jallaluddin said he had raised the demand with his lawyer a few days ago. The matter was taken up by CPI(M) politburo member and former MP Brinda Karat with the Commissioner of Police today.
He said his sons Hashim and Shaqir, who got injured in the incident, had said they felt unsafe while travelling to Delhi in connection with treatment and other work.
Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing probe by the GRP into the case, Jallaluddin said the family felt a little unsafe as there was no police cover either at home or during movement outside the village.
He said he wanted security as a precautionary measure. Police officials called him to the Commissioner’s office tomorrow in this connection, he added.
Karat, who called on Commissioner Hanif Qureshi in his office, told him that Junaid’s kin required round-the-clock cover from the city police even as the probe was being carried out by the GRP.
She said the matter was brought to her notice on Saturday when Hashim and Shaqir came to AIIMS for follow-up treatment. Karat later visited Junaid’s parents in Khandawali village and assured them of full support from the party regarding prosecution of the culprits.
She alleged that the government had failed to provide free treatment to the victim’s kin who had been injured in the incident. “The family is bearing the cost of treatment so far,” she added. Meanwhile, a delegation of residents of Khambi and Bhamrola, native villages of the six accused, met the ADGP (Railways and Commondo) Alok Rai.
They sought a fair probe into the murder. “The probe conducted so far is biased,” claimed Sahaj Ram, a former sarpanch of Bhamrola village.
