
Villages Naharpur & Narowali Get New Water Supply Schemes Under Mann Govt's Commitment to Rural Welfare
AAP Govt Strengthens Rural Infrastructure: 153 Households in Naharpur and 58 in Narowali Gain Access to Potable Water
Gurdaspur: In a major step towards ensuring universal access to clean drinking water, Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian inaugurated new water supply schemes worth Rs 1.11 crore in villages Naharpur and Narowali, falling under the Dera Baba Nanak Assembly constituency.
The minister was joined by MLA S. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, AAP District President and Chairman of District Planning Committee Gurdaspur Sh. Joban Randhawa, and several senior officials. As part of the green initiative, saplings were also planted at both sites.
Key Benefits of the Schemes
Village Naharpur: A project worth Rs 62.36 lakh will provide potable water to 153 households, featuring a deep bore well, 25,000-liter capacity water tank, modern chlorination system, solar panels, new pipeline network, and household connections. Additionally, 48 toilets have been built at a cost of Rs 7.20 lakh under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Village Narowali: A scheme worth Rs 48.68 lakh will supply safe drinking water to 58 households, along with the construction of 27 toilets costing Rs 4.05 lakh.
Government’s Welfare Commitment
Addressing the gathering, Minister Mundian said the Bhagwant Singh Mann–led Punjab Government has already achieved 100% coverage of potable drinking water supply across the state. Highlighting other welfare measures, he noted:
• 300 units of free electricity per household, benefiting nearly 90% of domestic consumers.
• 55,000+ government jobs provided in just three and a half years.
• Ongoing reforms under “Sikhya Kranti” (Education Revolution) and “Sehat Kranti” (Health Revolution).
• Launch of Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana from October 2025, offering Rs 10 lakh health insurance coverage per family.
MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa lauded the projects, stating that under the AAP government, 13 water supply schemes worth Rs 6.82 crore have already been executed in Dera Baba Nanak constituency, along with 54 Community Sanitary Complexes and 1,480 individual household toilets—out of which 898 have been completed.
The event was attended by senior administrative and engineering officials, panchayat representatives, and local leaders, who hailed the government’s efforts in improving rural infrastructure and living standards.
