Sandhwan encouraged eligible farmers, including cooperatives, to acquire Super SMS, Happy Seeders, and Paddy Straw Choppers.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has urged farmers to prioritize eco-friendly methods for crop residue management, moving away from stubble burning practices.
He highlighted the state government’s commitment to supporting this transition, specifically through subsidies on machinery like the Surface Seeders developed by Punjab Agricultural University, under the Crop Residue Management Scheme.
Emphasizing the teachings of Guru Sahib’s “Pawan Guru, Panni Pitta, Mata Dharat Mahat,” Sandhwan explained that adopting Crop Residue Machinery aligns with sustainable practices needed to protect the environment.
He encouraged eligible farmers, including cooperatives, to acquire Super SMS, Happy Seeders, and Paddy Straw Choppers at a 50% subsidy. Additionally, he shared that Custom Hiring Centres could be established with an investment of ₹30 lakhs, allowing the machines to be bought with an 80% subsidy.
To further aid this initiative, the state is enhancing the infrastructure for collecting, bailing, transporting, and storing crop residue. Sandhwan noted that farmers who successfully implement these eco-friendly practices will be honored at the Vidhan Sabha as progressive contributors to environmental preservation.
