Punjab Ferozepur Stubble Burning Latest News: The Ferozepur Police has initiated a program to reward farmers who manage stubble responsibly, highlighting the case of Gur Iqbal Singh, a farmer from Talwandi Jalle Khan, who was awarded mobile headphones for plowing his land without burning stubble. This initiative aligns with efforts to curb stubble burning, which has seen a substantial drop in incidents this year.
Currently, Ferozepur has registered 38 stubble-burning cases under Section 3223 of the BNS, distributed across Sadar, Arifke, and other stations. Compared to last year’s 516 cases reported from September 15 to October 30, this year has recorded only 268 in the same timeframe, reflecting a significant reduction. In 2022, the total incidents were even higher at 730 for this period.
To support these efforts, SSP Ferozepur has deployed 29 additional patrolling teams led by SHOs and 65 special teams with PCR support. The police have collaborated extensively with the district administration, conducting about 165 meetings with farmer unions and 105 with Village Development Committees (VDCs). Regular patrols cover 100 hotspots for stubble burning, with cluster officers and police engaging in joint patrols across the district.
