Punjabi Singer Rajveer Singh Jawanda’s Death: PIL Filed in High Court Demanding Probe into Alleged Medical Negligence: The death of Punjabi singer Rajveer Singh Jawanda in a road accident has highlighted alleged negligence in healthcare services. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding an investigation into the incident.

The petition was filed by an organization named Lawyers for Human Rights International, which works for the protection of human rights. The Central Government, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Road Transport, National Medical Commission, and the state governments of Punjab and Haryana, among others, have been made respondents in the case.

On Monday, a division bench headed by the Chief Justice of the High Court issued notices to all respondents and sought their replies.

The incident occurred on September 27, 2025, when the well-known Punjabi singer Rajveer Singh Jawanda’s motorcycle collided with a stray animal. He sustained serious head and spinal injuries in the accident.

According to the petition, he was immediately taken to JM Shory Multispeciality Hospital in Pinjore, located barely a kilometer from the accident site. However, the doctor there allegedly refused to provide primary treatment. As per DDR No. 61, he was referred to Civil Hospital, Panchkula, then to Paras Hospital, and finally to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he passed away during treatment on October 8, 2025.

The petition alleges that the doctors at JM Shori Hospital ignored the importance of the “golden hour” — the critical first hour after an accident when timely medical attention can save a life. This, the petitioner claims, is a violation of the Supreme Court’s judgment in Parmanand Katara vs. Union of India (1989), which mandates hospitals to provide immediate treatment to accident victims.

The petitioner has also sought an examination of Jawanda’s medical history to determine whether medical negligence occurred. Citing the Jacob Mathew case, the petition further asserts that doctors must adhere to standard medical procedures while treating patients.
