Payal Malik Controversy Explained: Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Payal Malik has issued a public apology after facing backlash over a video in which she was dressed as Goddess Kali. The video, which sparked outrage for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, was deleted soon after it was uploaded.
In a gesture of repentance, Payal visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala on July 22. According to reports, she broke down at the temple while seeking forgiveness from devotees and the public.
“Whatever punishment is given to me, I am ready to accept it,” she said emotionally.
As per reports, Payal, along with her husband, YouTuber Armaan Malik, and their daughter Tuba, performed seva (service) at the temple by cleaning utensils and serving food to devotees as an act of remorse.
Payal clarified that the controversial video had been recorded three months ago. “My daughter is a devoted follower of Kali Maa, so I thought of recreating the look for her. I now realise it was a grave mistake. I fold my hands and sincerely apologise to everyone. I hope no one repeats such a mistake,” she said.
She further added, “I read the comments, realised my mistake, and deleted the video. Unfortunately, some other pages had saved it and are now re-sharing it on their respective social media platforms.”
Armaan Malik is married to both Payal and her friend Kritika Malik. The trio recently appear together on Bigg Boss OTT 3.
