Singer Shaan Clarifies Controversy Over Shared Credits in Sikandar’s ‘Bam Bam Bhole,’ Says ‘They Were Sweet Enough to Ask Me’, Latest News: Legendary singer Shaan, in an interview on Vickey Lalwani’s channel, addressed the controversy surrounding the shared singing credits with Dev Negi for the song "Bam Bam Bhole" from the movie Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna.
Shaan revealed that he was originally approached by composer Pritam to sing Bam Bam Bhole, a song celebrating Holi, which was released ahead of the festival. He shared that multiple variations of the song were recorded in his voice. However, the makers later decided to include another singer, Dev Negi, leading to both artists being credited for the song.
Clarifying speculations, Shaan stated that he doesn’t think Salman Khan had a say in the decision to add another voice.
Speaking on Vickey Lalwani’s channel, he explained, "There are two voices in the song and one hero on the screen. But at the end of the day, it’s the call of the production house, and I think Sajid (Nadiadwala) bhai wanted to do something different with the number."
He further elaborated, "Due to certain last-minute reshuffling, they decided to go with two voices. In fact, Dev Negi had sung the shoot mix."
Shaan said, "When you are listening to a song in a certain voice and production quality for a long time during shooting, your mind gets tuned to it. Just before the release, when someone else sings the final version, and you hear it with a new voice and new beats, you may feel the previous version worked better."
However, Shaan clarified that Pritam’s team reached out to him for permission before finalizing the mix, and he respected their decision.
"See, it’s not personal. They probably wanted to experiment or give the song a new tone. It’s their money, their movie, and they have a lot more at stake," he explained.
Despite the change, Shaan remains happy about the song, stating, "Even now, I still have the credit. I love the song, and I will sing it in my shows. I am happy, but yes, I would have been thrilled if it was a solo song. But for that matter, even Dev would have been happy if it was his solo. Anyway, if we have to share credits, and if it’s for a Salman Khan Song, then we are both happy."
Sikandar is set to release in theaters on March 30.
