'12th Fail' is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and the film has been sent to Oscars 2024.

12th Fail Movie Based on True Real Story, Who is the real-life hero?: Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s '12th Fail', featuring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in the lead roles, has turned out to be the highest-rated Indian film of all time on IMDb, with a rating of 9.2 out of 10.

Securing the top position on the list of top 250 Indian movies, as rated by IMDb users, the '12th Fail' movie has surpassed some of the highest-grossing Hollywood films of 2023. These include Greta Gerwig’s 'Barbie' (rated 6.9), 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (rated 7.9), Christopher Nolan’s 'Oppenheimer' (rated 8.4) and 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' (rated 8.6).

12th Fail Movie Based on True Real Story: 

Reportedly, Vikrant Massey-starrer '12th Fail' is based on true events and it is said to be a real story. Bollywood director Rohit Shetty recently shared a photo of himself meeting the 'real hero of 12th Fail' i.e. IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The filmmaker took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of when the IPS officer 'was serving for Mumbai Police'. The film is based on Manoj Kumar Sharma's life, with Vikrant Massey playing the lead role.

Reacting to the post of Rohit Shetty posing with the IPS officer, Vikrant Massey commented on the post, "The two of you (fire and red heart emojis)!!!" In the picture, Rohit Shetty can be seen posing with Manoj Kumar Sharma in what appeared to be the latter's office in Mumbai. In his caption, Rohit Sharma gushed about '12th Fail', calling it 'an inspiring story, especially for students and youngsters'.

Rohit Shetty said in a caption, “Meet the real hero of 12th Fail Manoj Kumar Sharma, had the honor of working with him during Covid-19 (pandemic), at that time he was serving for Mumbai police… if you have not seen 12th Fail please do watch… it’s an inspiring story, especially for students and youngsters.”

Notably, '12th Fail' is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and the film has been sent to Oscars 2024 as well as an independent nomination. 

Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail revolves around the UPSC aspirants and is based on real-life experiences, showcasing the struggles of millions of students who attempt the UPSC exam. It chronicles the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma. He overcame poverty to become an IPS officer. The film is based on a novel by Anurag Pathak.
