Lal Salaam will majorly speak on 3 things. At first, it speaks about how a strong influence on a child while growing up can scar them for life. The second thing is friendship, and most importantly, the third thing that Lal Salaam talks about is religious harmony.

Is Lal Salaam Movie Based on True Real Story?

The team that worked on Lal Salaam paid much attention to the film during its various promotional campaigns. At the Lal Salaam audio launch, it was revealed that it is based on an over 40-year-old real-life incident that involved the burning of a Hindu temple chariot. The story, dialogues, and cinematography of Lal Salaam is by Vishnu Rangasamy who comes from a Tamil journalism background. The car burning incident in the temple happened in his hometown and he developed a script based on it and another incident that happened in cricket.

Vishnu Rangasamy describes it saying, “The story is a serious story based on the temple chariot arson and is based on ideologies. It takes a lot of courage to choose that story. She (Aishwarya Rajinikanthh) was in it. She's quite a rebel.”

On the other hand, the director Aishwarya Rajinikanth has said that since the story was based on religion, especially highlighting the mindless division between Hindus and Muslims, no one wanted to take the risk of getting associated with it, whether doing the film or producing it. Also, apart from religious harmony, Lal Salaam highlights many socially relevant topics that are the need of the hour.

Rajinikanth, who plays a Mumbai-based Muslim character named Moideen Bhai, has said, "In Lal Salaam, Lal is associated with many things such as communism, danger, violence, revolution, etc. Whereas, Aishwarya identified Laal as Kranti in the film. Salaam means salute. Therefore Lal Salaam is a salute to Kranti."
