Fakhr-e-Qaum Title Revoked from Parkash Singh Badal
Fakhr-e-Qaum Title Revoked from Parkash Singh Badal Amid Sukhbir Singh Badal’s 'Tankhaiya' Verdict:– In a historic decision during the verdict session on Sukhbir Singh Badal’s Tankhaiya case at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the revered religious body has taken the unprecedented step of revoking the Fakhr-e-Qaum title from former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The title Fakhr-e-Qaum (Pride of the Nation) was conferred upon Parkash Singh Badal in 2011 by Sri Akal Takht Sahib in recognition of his long political career and contributions to the Sikh community. The event took place within the Golden Temple premises, where Badal was honored in the presence of the Jathedars of the five Takhts. However, the move was met with significant opposition from various political and radical organizations, with the Jathedar of Damdama Sahib notably staying absent from the ceremony.
