Reflecting on their past encounters in the World Cup, both teams have faced each other seven times, with India emerging victorious on all occasions. Presently, the Indian team is in formidable form, with the added boost of having their opener fully fit for this crucial match. Notably, star opener Shubman Gill, having performed exceptionally well in 2023, has not yet played in the World Cup due to a bout of dengue before the tournament.

Former chief selector of India, MSK Prasad, is optimistic that Gill will make a significant contribution in the match against Pakistan. Conversely, Pakistan's players have not displayed consistent form. Captain Babar Azam and the promising fast bowler Shaheen Afridi are yet to hit their stride in the tournament.
