HYDERABAD: In a promising start to their ODI World Cup campaign, Pakistan showcased their prowess by securing an emphatic 81-run victory against Netherlands in a thrilling match held in Hyderabad. The encounter, held on Friday, witnessed Pakistan's batting brilliance and efficient bowling that set the tone for a well-deserved triumph.
Batting first, Pakistan put up a competitive total of 286 runs in 49 overs, showcasing a resilient batting display. Despite a slightly disappointing performance by the opening batsmen, Rizwan and Saud Shakeel emerged as the driving force, both contributing crucial 68 runs each to bolster the team's innings.
Chasing the target of 287 runs, Netherlands fought valiantly but ultimately fell short, managing a total of 205 runs in 41 overs. Bass Dr Leed emerged as a prominent performer for the Netherlands, contributing a commendable 67 runs to the team's effort, closely followed by opener Vikramjit Singh with 52 runs.
