Trio of Ankita Bhakat, Simranjit Kaur, and Bhajan Kaur secured the bronze medal

HANGZHOU: Indian archers made a remarkable mark at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, ending a 13-year wait for a medal in the recurve category. The trio of Ankita Bhakat, Simranjit Kaur, and Bhajan Kaur secured the bronze medal by defeating Vietnam in an exciting match. The Indian archers, seeded fifth, displayed exceptional skills, outperforming Vietnam's team with a score of 6-2 (56-52, 55-56, 57-50, 51-48) in the bronze medal match.

On the other sporting front, India's cricket team demonstrated their prowess by storming into the men's cricket final at the Asian Games. In the semi-final against Bangladesh, Indian captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to field first. The Indian bowlers lived up to expectations, restricting Bangladesh to a total of 96 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

In response, the Indian team secured a convincing victory, scoring 97 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 9.2 overs. This marks India's first-ever participation in this continental sports competition. The Indian cricket team will now advance to the final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Saturday, vying for the gold medal.
