The BCCI will allow Kolkata Knight Riders to name a replacement player in line with IPL regulations.
Amid the political controversy surrounding Shah Rukh Khan’s franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) allowing a Bangladeshi cricketer to play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season following reports of atrocities against minorities, KKR on Thursday confirmed that the BCCI/IPL has instructed the franchise to release the player.
According to ANI, KKR stated that the BCCI/IPL, as the regulator of the IPL, directed the franchise to release Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from its squad ahead of the upcoming season.
ANI further reported that the release was carried out following due process and consultations, in accordance with the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The BCCI will allow Kolkata Knight Riders to name a replacement player in line with IPL regulations, with further details to be communicated in due course.
