From Mohali to UK: Sahibee Anand Appointed Regional Head of OFBJP North East England
Punjab-born community leader Sahibee Anand has been appointed as the North East England Regional Convenor of the Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party UK (OFBJP UK).
The organisation, which operates on a voluntary basis, focuses on strengthening diaspora outreach, cultural engagement, and fostering people-to-people connections between the United Kingdom and India.
Anand hails from Mohali, Punjab, and brings extensive grassroots experience in public service and community organisation to the role. His appointment was officially announced by Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, the president of OFBJP UK.
Shekhawat stated that the move is part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to empower regional leadership and deepen community engagement among overseas Indians living in the United Kingdom.
In his new capacity, Anand will work toward strengthening coordination, civic awareness, and structured engagement among the Indian diaspora in Northeast England. This region is reportedly witnessing steady growth in its population of Indian origin.
