Sikh Missionary from Chandigarh dies in road accident in Australia

S.Gurbir Singh,a Sikh missionary and resident of Rajdhani Complex Sector 49 Chandigarh died in a horror car crash near Perth in Australia. He was also a retired Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) employee. Two more persons injured in the same accident .Puneet Singh, who was driving the car got very serious injuries is said to be critical while Satinder Pal Singh had a lucky escape.

According to Australian media, the incident took place when the car in which Gurbir was travelling wedged between two trucks, resulting in his death. The crash happened on Jandakot Road about 3.50pm (Australian Time)  when the car in which Gurbir and three more were travelling got crushed between two trucks.

It is learnt that Gurbir had gone to Perth to visit his elder son, Harpreet Singh and his wife Hardeep Kaur. He was there for around a month. It was at 2.30pm on Monday when Harpreet called his younger brother, Avneep Singh to inform him about the demise of their father.

Meanwhile, the truck driver has been charged over this horror crash in Australia. The collision involved a white Caterpillar Truck, a silver Toyota Camry sedan and a white Hino Truck that were all travelling in the same direction.

Relatives of the deceased informed that his body will not be brought to Chandigarh, instead his last rites will be performed in Perth. His younger son Avneep Singh will also be flying to Perth for the last rites.
