Musk reportedly spent nearly 300 million dollars last year backing Trump’s presidential campaign and other Republican candidates.

Trump to Hold Press Conference with Elon Musk latest news: U.S. President Donald Trump is set to hold a press conference with Elon Musk, who on Thursday announced his departure from the US government, where he served as a Special Government Employee.

“I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX, is stepping down as his 130-day mandate with the Trump administration nears its expiration on May 30. His departure comes amid reports of dissatisfaction with the federal government’s functioning.

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,” Musk wrote on social media.

Reports suggest Musk’s exit was “quick and unceremonious.” Sources indicated that Musk did not hold a formal conversation with the former president before announcing his departure.

Musk had been signaling his departure throughout the week, emphasizing his intent to return full-time to his business ventures.

In an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, Musk said, “The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized. I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least,” adding that the DOGE mission had been unfairly blamed for various issues in the White House.

Musk reportedly spent nearly 300 million dollars last year backing Trump’s presidential campaign and other Republican candidates. However, earlier this month, he stated, “I think I’ve done enough,” signaling plans to substantially reduce his political contributions.
