 French President Emmanuel Macron has refuted the interpretations of a viral video that purports to show his wife, Brigitte Macron, pushing him away as they were about to disembark from an aircraft during his visit to Vietnam as part of his Southeast Asia tour. While Macron acknowledged the video’s authenticity, he rejected the narrative it has sparked online.

Speaking to the media on Monday in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, President Macron addressed the viral clip, saying:

“There’s a video showing me joking and teasing my wife, and somehow that becomes a sort of geo-planetary catastrophe, with people even coming up with theories to explain it.”
