Canada PM Justin Trudeau no-confidence vote in Parliament Latest News: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau successfully navigated a no-confidence vote on Wednesday, surviving the first significant challenge to his minority Liberal government, which has seen its popularity wane after nearly a decade in power.

Despite this victory, Trudeau's government is set to face more hurdles in the coming weeks. The main opposition party, the Conservatives, has pledged to try again to oust the Liberals, potentially as early as Tuesday.

The vote followed an intense debate in Parliament, during which members exchanged sharp insults and thumped their desks. In the end, the Liberals secured a 211 to 120 victory over the Conservative motion to unseat the government.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, buoyed by favorable public opinion polls, has been pushing for a snap election. His calls have grown louder since the left-wing New Democratic Party (NDP) ended its coalition with the Liberals earlier this month, leaving Trudeau’s government more vulnerable.

Poilievre criticized Trudeau for failing to address pressing issues like the rising cost of living, a housing shortage, and increased crime, while also doubling the national debt. "After nine years of Liberal government, the promise of Canada is broken," he stated during the Commons debate.

However, other opposition parties have resisted Poilievre's right-wing policies, preventing the government’s downfall. After the vote, Liberal House Leader Karina Gould accused the Conservatives of "playing games" with parliamentary procedure.
