PM Modi Addresses Knesset, Meets President Herzog to Deepen India–Israel Strategic Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem during his two-day state visit to Israel, reaffirming the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and discussing ways to expand cooperation across key sectors.
According to official statements issued during the visit, the talks focused on strengthening collaboration in education, start-ups, innovation, technology, agriculture, water management and connectivity. Both leaders highlighted the increasing global significance of India–Israel ties and their potential contribution to regional and international stability.
In posts shared after the meeting, the two leaders expressed confidence in the strength of bilateral relations. PM Modi noted the vast scope for cooperation in future-oriented sectors such as technology and innovation while appreciating support for the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. During the visit, he planted a sapling at the Presidential Residence as part of the initiative.
Describing the partnership as one with global impact, the Prime Minister said India and Israel can work together as a force for global good. He also referred to Israel’s expertise in water conservation and agriculture, areas where Indian projects have drawn from Israeli practices.
President Herzog praised India’s economic growth and expanding international role, encouraging deeper engagement between universities, research institutions and young entrepreneurs from both nations.
Earlier, PM Modi paid tribute at Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, and addressed a special session of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, during the visit.
