Malala Yousafzai is the first Pakistani to receive the honour

The Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) announced on April 23 that Oxford University's Linacre College has awarded world's youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai with its prestigious honorary fellowship on April 18.

Notably, Malala Yousafzai is the first Pakistani to receive the honour. The 25-year-old has joined the list of esteemed past fellows including Nobel Prize winner Sir Paul Nurse and the first Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of South Africa Dr Frene Ginwala.

While speaking during the ceremony, Malala dropped fond memories of visiting her friends at Linacre College and appreciated the impact of the OPP. She explained that how the dream of the OPP has now come to fruition, transforming the lives of students and serving as a beacon of hope for students in Pakistan.
