U.S. Bombs Iranian Nuclear Sites Amid Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict; Trump Declares “Now Is the Time for Peace”
In a major escalation of ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the United States has entered the conflict between Iran and Israel by bombing key nuclear sites in Iran, including the heavily fortified Fordow facility.
On Sunday morning (IST), U.S. President Donald Trump announced the operation, which many fear could trigger a broader global conflict and lead to WW3.
In a post on X, Trump stated, “We have completed our very successful attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iranian airspace. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”
He praised U.S. military personnel, calling them “great American warriors,” and added, “There is not another military in the world that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Trumps' earlier warnings:
Just four days earlier, Trump had issued a series of warnings to Iran via Truth Social. One post read, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target but is safe there — we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
Trump also claimed, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American-made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
He further warned Iran of “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER”.
Earlier in the week, Trump criticized Iran for failing to accept a proposed agreement. “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
Trump had left the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, early, cryptically stating, “It certainly has nothing to do with a ceasefire (between Iran and Israel). Much bigger than that… Stay Tuned!”
On June 15, he posted, “The U.S. had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight. If we are attacked in any way, shape, or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before. However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!”
In a separate post the same day, Trump again claimed his role in resolving the recent conflict between India and Pakistan. “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal — just like I got India and Pakistan to make — in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!”
