Infamous terrorist Rashid Latif, the brain behind the Pathankot attack, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Pakistan

In a significant development, Rashid Latif, a notorious terrorist and mastermind of the infamous Pathankot attack, was killed in Pakistan by unidentified assailants. The fatal shooting resulted in Latif's immediate demise, putting an end to his reign of terror. Latif, a resident of Gujranwala in the Punjab province of Pakistan, was a prominent figure associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, a known extremist group.

The Slain terrorist, formerly known as Shahid Talif, had a criminal history marked by multiple acts of terrorism and violence against India. He was previously arrested on November 12, 1994, and subsequently spent 16 years in Indian jails before being deported through the Wagah border in 2010. Latif's notoriety reached its peak when he orchestrated the Pathankot attack on January 2, 2016, a tragedy that claimed innocent lives and left a scar on India's security landscape.

In addition to his involvement in the Pathankot attack, Latif was also implicated in the hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane, further cementing his position as a key figure in cross-border terrorism.
