Niloufar informed the public about 22-year-old Mahsa Amini

The United Nations has awarded its top award for press freedom to three Iranian women journalists jailed for their "commitment to truth and accountability." Award winners include Niloufar Hamedi, Elaheh Mohammadi and Narges Mohammadi.

These winners are honored with this award for reporting truthfully and responsibly on human rights abuses in Iran. Niloufar informed the public about 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died in September last year, through news.

Amini was arrested by the ethics police for not wearing the headscarf properly. Elaheh Mohammadi wrote about Amini's funeral. After the death of Amini, there were protests in the cities of Iran for several months. The third winner, Narges Mohammadi, worked as a journalist for many years is one of Iran's leading activists.
