Uttarakhand Tempo Accident  Latest news : In a tragic incident, an 18-seater tempo traveller plunged into the Alaknanda River near Gholtir in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, on Thursday.

The accident occured when a truck hit the vehicle with 20 people onboard.

According to initial reports, one person has died and seven others have been injured in the accident.

Rescue and search operations are currently underway, with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and the district administration working at the site.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the incident and stated that he is in constant touch with the local administration.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said,“The news of a tempo traveller falling into a river in Rudraprayag district is deeply tragic. Relief and rescue operations are being conducted on a war footing by SDRF and other rescue teams. I am in constant contact with the local administration regarding this matter. I pray to God for everyone's safety.”

There were 20 people onboard the vehicle and 10 are missing as of latest updates.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey following the accident, told ANI, "This was a 31-seater private bus with 20 passengers going towards Badrinath which fell into the Alaknanda river today. We are making every effort to search and rescue 10 missing persons. The eight injured persons are receiving medical treatment in Rudraprayag."

Earlier, one injured in the accident told, ANI "We were going to Badrinath from Rudraprayag. A truck hit our bus, due to which our bus fell into the ditch. We were 20 people, and I know only 8 of them," says injured Deepika while being taken to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment.

Additionally, two people who suffered serious were airlifted to Rishikesh AIIMS for medical treatment.

Updated at 3:39 PM on june 26, another deceased identified as Gauri Soni in the accident has been found.

SDRF Inspector Manjari Negi told ANI, "A body of another deceased passenger in the Rudraprayag bus accident has been found floating near the dam in Srinagar. The deceased has been identified as Gauri Soni. SDRF is engaged in search and rescue for those who remain missing."
