Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: In deeply concerning purported videos from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, members of a right-wing Hindu group were seen distributing weapons among residents of a housing society, telling them to use the weapons in case a situation “like that in Bangladesh arises.”
In the video, the men were heard raising slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Shri Ram.” One of the group members distributing weapons told the recipient that the weapon was meant for the protection of “sister and mother” in case a situation like that in Bangladesh arises. Another person in the video can be heard saying “cut maullahs” in such situations.
In Ghaziabad today, members of an organisation called Hindu Raksha Dal were seen distributing swords and other sharp weapons. After the videos went viral, the Ghaziabad Police registered an FIR against 46 persons, including Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD) president Pinky Chaudhary, along with around 30 unidentified activists. Ten of the accused have been arrested so far, according to fact-checker Mohammed Zubair.
