Who is Rishabh Thakur: Rishabh Thakur is the main accused in the attack on attendees of a birthday party hosted by a nursing student for her 10 friends, including two Muslims, in Bareilly on December 27, 2025 in Uttar Pradesh.
In visuals from the scene, as a song referencing “Bajrang Dal” played in the background, dozens of members of a right-wing group, led by Rishabh Thakur, can be seen assaulting male attendees while accusing them of “love jihad.”
Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal’s Bareilly Mahanagar unit, in a video statement shared on X on Sunday, said that Rishabh Thakur was expelled from the organisation on December 14, 2025, and relieved of all responsibilities.
“The person who cannot act in accordance with the organisation cannot be retained in the organisation. Therefore, he (Rishabh Thakur) has been removed from all his duties,” the Bajrang Dal, Bareilly Mahanagar, said in the video statement.

The organisation further asserted that it would not be responsible for any actions carried out by Rishabh Thakur in the future, adding that he alone would be accountable for his conduct.
The nursing student who hosted the party said in a video statement earlier today that the male attendees were critically injured in the attack and demanded the removal of some of the footage from all social media platforms.

Earlier, in a surprising turn of events, reports said that Uttar Pradesh Police had taken action against the victims and café staff. However, later in the day, following widespread public outrage, a case was registered against Rishabh Thakur and 26 others.
Rishabh Thakur is alleged to have a history of involvement in attacks on minorities and young couples.
