The brother told news agency ANI that his sister had gone to use the toilet before going missing.
The brother of a minor girl who was allegedly raped in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, stated that a journalist and a police officer were also involved in the assault.
The brother told news agency ANI that his sister had gone to use the toilet before going missing.
Recalling the aftermath of his sister’s disappearance, he said that while searching for her, the family spotted a black Scorpio car and a bike parked at a distance from their house.
He added that the family waited for the girl, and about half an hour later, the car was seen parked behind their house, with a person riding the bike behind it. Later, the person on the bike also sat inside the car.
The brother said, “We thought what if our sister was in the car, and when we checked the car with the light, she was not there. A police personnel and a journalist, Shivbaran, were sitting inside the car.”
He added that he and other family members questioned what the police personnel and the journalist were doing there. “They questioned us, asking, ‘What are you doing here?’ We said that we were looking for our sister,” the brother said.
The car, he said, remained parked there for about an hour.
“40 minutes later, my sister returned home. When we questioned her about where she had gone, she said that she had gone to use the toilet when some people abducted her and forced her to sit inside a car,” he added.
“She said that she was sexually assaulted by two people somewhere near a railway line and threatened with death if she revealed anything,” he further added.
The brother said that the family called 112 during the night. He added that the police asked them to visit the police station the next day.
“The next day at the police station, my sister identified Shivbaran and accused him of sexually assaulting her."
